Bridging a World of Consumer Permissioned Data
Nova Credit opens pathways to financial opportunity for millions of people with limited credit history. By aggregating global credit bureau and bank transaction data, we help lenders and businesses to see borrowers in a new light, unlocking access to the financial system for millions of new people.
We believe that every person deserves an equal shot at opportunities that can help them succeed. That means everyone needs access to finance.
We built Nova Credit to help global citizens apply for financial services in their new home using their credit history from their country of origin. Using technology that translates international credit data into a local-equivalent score, we currently serve individuals coming from Australia, Brazil, Canada, Dominican Republic, India, Kenya, Mexico, Nigeria, Philippines, South Korea, Spain, Switzerland and the U.K.
Building on the path to financial inclusion, we also work to improve access for thin-file credit applicants in the U.S., and all those discouraged by the current credit system.
Whether someone has great credit in another country that lenders can’t see, or they don’t have credit history at all, we see each individual, and we’re here to help them put their plans into practice.
We’re on a mission to bridge the universe of consumer-permissioned data to enable a more fair and inclusive financial system for millions of individuals around the world.

Every year, millions of creditworthy individuals are denied access to financing because lenders can’t access the right data to assess the individual's financial responsibility. We built Nova Credit to unlock unique data sources that help businesses improve their credit risk assessment, identifying more customers and gaining access to untapped markets. With our industry-leading technology, we connect lenders to a more diverse consumer base and ensure access to finance for millions of people each year.
Our Credit Passport® is a global credit scoring and reporting format that contains a local-equivalent score, tradelines, and inquiry history. Using consumer-permissioned data, it enables individuals who have recently arrived in a new country to demonstrate their creditworthiness to lenders like American Express, MPOWER Financing, and Yardi.
For most countries, Nova Credit aligns the country-of-origin credit score to local credit risk levels by matching the default rates. For example, a score of 1050 in the originating country that represents a default rate of 3% might equate to a score of 710 at the same default rate in the U.S. In that case the consumer’s score is adjusted to 710 for U.S. underwriting purposes.
Any individual who grants access to their foreign credit history to a participating lender can use Nova Credit.
Our reach is always growing. Currently, we serve consumers who have moved to the United States, United Kingdom and Singapore, and have credit history in Australia, Brazil, Canada, Dominican Republic, India, Kenya, Mexico, Nigeria, Philippines, South Korea, Spain, Switzerland, the US (for newcomers in non-US regions) or the UK.
We work with credit card companies, lenders, and other credit product providers to extend their reach to underserved individuals from around the globe. Key partners include American Express and HSBC in credit cards; MPOWER in student loans; and Yardi, Intellirent, and First Advantage in tenant screening and Verizon in mobile phones. UNFCU members can also use Nova Credit to apply for credit cards and personal loans.
Novans are a diverse community of individuals living and breathing our company values across 15+ states, 5 countries and 4 continents. We’ve built a community in which all employees, regardless of their identity, experience, or background, feel at home and have access to the resources they need to succeed.
